SUSTAINABILITY
PEOPLE & PLANET
Cartiera Confalone makes sustainable choices, respecting the environment and people’s health. Our company carries on industrial development in the conviction that growth can only be accepted in the direction of limiting environmental impact and protecting the safety and well-being of people at work.
EARTH
Responsible sourcing of forest-based raw material.
Cartiera Confalone uses only certified cellulose from responsibly managed forests.
FSC® MIX (C131662)
The FSC Mixed label indicates that the wood or paper within the product comes from FSC-certified material, recycled material and/or controlled wood.
PEFC
The wood-based material in the product comes from a forest managed in line with the strictest environmental, social and economic requirements.
The non-renewable natural source resources used are optimized in processing into finished product to minimize waste and enable the recovery of production waste for recycling or use as a secondary raw material.
AIR
The use of state-of-the-art technologies enables a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere at every stage of production at the paper mill and in converting.
Inside the mill, air quality is guaranteed by a highly efficient mist and dust extraction system.
Energy
Industrial development in recent years has been directed toward energy efficiency: a trigeneration plant has been activated for the joint production of electricity, heat and cooling, and a gas hood plant with numerous stages of energy recovery.
At the logistics level, warehouse automation has resulted in savings in the energy used due to less internal handling of pallets.
Water
A purification system integrated into the supply chain allows for the recovery and reuse in the production process of reflux water, with a lower fresh water consumption and withdrawal from the water table.
The wastewater undergoes an industrial purification process before being released in an authorized manner.
PEOPLE
People are the driving force behind the development of Cartiera Confalone.
The mental and physical well-being of workers, safety in the workplace, and professional growth are fundamental requirements for achieving shared goals.
The progressive automation of operations performed by robots and automated forklifts decreases the risk of injury to operators, and all safety procedures are always scrupulously executed.
Sustainability principles also guide relationships with stakeholders, suppliers and customers to develop an industrial culture of doing business ethically and with the least environmental burdens for the benefit of future generations.
